CertDrop Back to order

Get your iPhone UDID

Use CertDrop’s own UDID tool before ordering your Apple Developer certificate. The UDID is copied into your order so your certificate is made for the right device.

1
Open this page on the iPhone or iPad you want to register.
2
Download the temporary CertDrop profile and approve it in iOS Settings.
3
CertDrop shows the UDID here, then you can continue to your order.
CertDrop asks iOS only for UDID, device product, and iOS version. After iOS sends the UDID, CertDrop opens this page with your result.

UDID capture

Start a short-lived secure session. The profile expires automatically if you do not finish.

Ready. Use Safari on the iPhone or iPad you want to register.

What an iPhone UDID is

A UDID is the device identifier used when an iPhone or iPad is registered for development and ad hoc app installation. It is different from the serial number, IMEI, phone number, ECID, and Apple Account. CertDrop needs the UDID of the exact device where you intend to install signed apps.

The temporary profile allows iOS to return the device UDID, product information, and iOS version to this page. It does not install an app or give CertDrop control over the device. After the result appears, copy it carefully or use the order button so the value is transferred without retyping it.

Why accuracy matters

A provisioning profile contains a list of permitted devices. If one character is missing, added, or copied from the wrong device, that profile will not authorize installation on the intended iPhone or iPad. Each additional device therefore needs its own correct UDID registration.

If you prefer to retrieve the identifier from Finder or iTunes, follow the complete UDID guide. Before ordering, compare the captured value with the value shown by your chosen method and make sure you are using the device that will receive the apps.
