How to find your iPhone UDID
Your UDID is the device identifier needed to register your iPhone or iPad for an Apple Developer certificate. CertDrop uses it to generate certificate files that work on your exact device.
Method 1: Finder on Mac
- Connect your iPhone or iPad to your Mac.
- Open Finder and select your device in the sidebar.
- Click the device info line until the UDID appears.
- Copy the UDID exactly and use it in your CertDrop order.
Method 2: iTunes on Windows
- Connect your iPhone or iPad to your Windows PC.
- Open iTunes and select your device.
- Click the serial number field until it changes to UDID.
- Copy the UDID exactly.
Method 3: CertDrop profile on iPhone or iPad
This method is useful when you do not have a Mac or do not want to copy the identifier manually from iTunes.
- Open the CertDrop UDID tool in Safari on the device you want to register.
- Start the secure session and download the temporary configuration profile.
- Open iOS Settings and approve the downloaded profile when prompted.
- Return to Safari. CertDrop will display the UDID and let you copy it or continue directly to the order form.
Run the process separately on each device. A UDID collected from one iPhone cannot register a different iPhone or iPad.
Avoid common UDID mistakes
The serial number and IMEI can appear near the UDID in device-information screens, but they are not interchangeable. On Windows, click the serial-number field in iTunes until it explicitly displays UDID. On a Mac, keep clicking the device information line in Finder until the same label appears.
Copy the complete value without spaces, quotes, or surrounding labels. Do not type it from memory or copy it from a screenshot when a direct copy is available. If the wrong identifier is registered, the resulting mobileprovision file may be valid but still refuse installation on your device.
After receiving certificate files, the certificate health check can confirm whether the intended UDID appears inside the provisioning profile.
Before you order
- Use the UDID for the device where you want to install signed apps.
- Do not use IMEI, serial number, ECID, or Bluetooth address.
- If the UDID is wrong, the certificate may not install apps on your device.
